There are three main difference between the two festoon lighting systems: 1. The voltage 240V and 24V Low Voltage
2. Glass v Shatter-Proof PVC Bulbs
3. IP44 and IP67 Water-Proof Rated Cables
So which festoon lights should you choose?
If your area is protected, bulbs can’t bang against anything in high winds, and there’s little to no chance of bulbs breaking over people’s heads or kids, then the 240V system with glass bulbs will work for you.
If your area gets high winds, or it’s a public space and you’re at all concerned about some 20-500 bulbs overhead, then the Shatter-Proof bulbs and low voltage is the way to go because it’s a bullet-proof system.
Both the IP44 and IP67 festoon cables are made for permanent outdoor use. The IP67 has a higher water-proof rating then IP44.
